Tuesday, December 21, 2021 Cinnamon Girl donates $1-A-Bun to Through These Doors (TTD). TTD creates innovative responses, promotes safety, and challenges oppression and systems of violence.
Founded in 1977, TTD is the domestic violence resource center serving victims and survivors of domestic abuse, dating violence, and stalking in Cumberland County, Maine.
TTD provides safe and accessible services to all people affected by domestic violence regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender, age, primary language spoken, or immigration status.
The core service is free, confidential, anonymous 24-hour helpline to people living in or leaving abusive relationships, struggling with a former partner, and concerned friends, family members, neighbors, etc.
TTD operates an emergency shelter for people fleeing abuse and violence, transitional services, support and education groups, and safety planning, advocacy, support and assistance with legal matters including Protection from Abuse Orders.
They offer specialized support services on issues as elder abuse and human trafficking. We work in the systems of child protective services and local jails and prisons. We engage in consultation and case assessment with all law enforcement agencies in Cumberland County. In an effort to prevent future violence, they provide extensive community education, consultation, training, and systems change advocacy to the general public and to youth through our Young Adult Abuse Prevention Program.
TTD operates the certified domestic violence intervention program in Cumberland County, Maine called A Different Choice.

VISION
TTD envisions a world where all people are safe, respected, and supported in their relationships and communities, where everyone’s basic needs are met and they are able to lead whole, fulfilling lives.
In fiscal year ended September 30, 2021, Through These Doors provided services and supports to 2,771 different people. In that same year, we handled 11,955 calls and electronic contacts plus 3,717 face to face contacts. We sheltered 122 people including 58 children. We provided 49 trainings and awareness activities to a total of 1,280 people plus 88 youth presentations to 1,459 students.
